Cane & Co
In 1858
The British turned to India to resolve their labour shortage, as Zulu men refused to adopt the servile position of labourers and in 1860 the SS Truro arrived in Durban harbour with over 300 people on board,My Ancestor was amongst the first 300 Labourers
At the end of the initial three year contract the indentured labourers were given a free passage back to India or given agricultural land equivalent to the value of a passage back to India. Owning their own land was an unlikely event in their homeland of India,My Ancestor Chandragupta Kapoor acquired a small portion of land and began to farm sugar cane ,In 1873 he founded Cane & Co sugar mill..
My Grandmother used to make Sugar cane juice for me,a tradition passed down from her great grand father Chandragupta, she used to say that the juice was the perfect thing to lift my spirits and sweeten my luck, after one sip i was back in my Grandma's kitchen, she used to say to me,"you can change the world, you just have to go do it one stick at a time"
it was then it hit me,what if i could share this energy with the world, everyone needs this comfort and lift in their lives, healthy energy giving you the chance to change the world one stick at a time....
